St. Malo

Saint Malo is known
for being the home of
the infamous Corsairs,
or pirates.









The walled city of
Saint Malo was almost
completely destroyed
in 1944 by American
forces.







It was alternately
sunny and rainy
when I was there.

Jacques Cartier, who sailed
the Saint Lawrence River and
visited the sites of Quebec
and Montreal -









- and is thus credited
as the discoverer of
Canada, lived in and
sailed from Saint-Malo.
